Contest rules.

All the guitar makers, from any country, nationality or age, will be eligible to submit their application.

Apllications will be not permit to the 1st prize winner in past editions of the competition.

It is compulsory that the contestants participate in the activities which make up the contest, including meetings with the festival collaborators, and they must pay a Registration Fee of €150 to this bank account number:

Send us a email with your complete name, indentification number in your country (or passport number), age, a screen capture or photocopy of proof of payment and biography as a guitar maker to europeanguitarfoundation@gmail.com

 

The instrument:

·It must be completely finished and hand-made, in its entirety, by the contestant himself.

·Only 1 guitar per contestant

·The guitar must be made in the style of a Spanish guitar. Those made with double top, nomex, carbon, etc. will not be accepted.

·The competition will be in 2019 2 different competitions: flamenco guitars and classical guitars.  Each guitar maker can participate in the two competitions at same time, with different applications.

·The election of wood and everything regarding to the instrument will be the applicant´s responsibility.

·The strings must be Nylon strings. Not admitted carbon strings. We recommends Labella 2001, Pepe Romero Strings Sr. model or Royal Classics Nylon strings. (Normal or hight tension)

·The jury will evaluate all the guitar features: sound, the interior and outer finish, playability, rosette making, varnishing, bridge, etc.

·The luthiers who take part in the competition, must remove the instruments after the qualifying round daily,and in the rest times (for example lunch time) and they must take them to the following round in the case of being selected. The Foundation is not the responsable of the guitar, luthiers must take care of his instruments.

·The applicant will be responsible for the costs of his/her travel, housing and food during the whole event.

·The finalists and winners will be authorised in writing by the EGF to state on their labels the award they  have obtained.

·The applicant will always be responsible, at all times, for his/her instrument which must be watched and cared by him/her during the event as well as to be in charge of the availability of the instrument for the jury within the time agreed.

·The jury´s decision will be indisputable and accepted by all the contestants.

10.00 h. Private and individual exhibition of the contestants guitars for David Collett. ‘Guitar Salon International’ President

- Tuesday, 6th August

10.00 h. Preliminary phase of the contest.

21 h. Final and Awards ceremony with concert.

Once the presentation has finished, a soloist will play the guitars which have become finalists. At the end of the recital, the jury will go to a different room in order to deliberate on the awards. After the awards ceremony, when the jury´s secretary will make the results known, there will be another short recital with the winning guitar.

·Mr. Yuris Zeltins. World famous guitar maker.
